Evie O’Neil’s gone too far. She insulted the son of the most influential family in Zenith, Ohio, and so is forced to go live with her Uncle Will in New York. Evie falls right into the busy life of New York city, but things quickly take a bad turn. A killer is stalking the streets, brutally murdering his victims. Something is something–something the likes of this world has never seen–and it may be up to Evie and her new companions to stop him.
The Diviners was a great book! Although it’s a brick, the plot moves at a fast clip, with fantastic descriptions and witty dialogue. Evie is an engaging protagonist, but I enjoyed the diversions to other characters, such as Memphis and Theta. I found the 1920s New York to be a well-developed setting. Brady captures the mood of the city very well, but adds a little horror for extra flavor. All in all, a great, fun book, and I’m looking forward to the sequel.
