Ichiro is adrift. The young Brooklyn native has just moved to Japan with his mother and is staying with his grandfather while she looks for a job. As Ichiro struggles with finding his place in his new home, he chases a raccoon and gets transported to the spirit world. As he tries to find his way home, Ichiro quickly gets swept up into the conflict raging in the spirit world.
Inzana’s Ichiro was a delightful read! The graphic novel is beautifully drawn, and the story is gripping. Ichiro’s an extremely relatable character–he asks a lot of questions that I think many find themselves asking, and Inzana does a good job of portraying his struggles. I also really enjoyed the tie-in to Japanese mythology, as it really added an interesting element to Ichiro’s questions, not to mention added an extra dash of fun to the story! Check this one out!
