In France, an unnamed woman languishes in a Gestapo prison and writes her confession. She has been asked to give details of the Allied secret operations, but what comes out is the story of her friendship, with Maddie, the pilot who flew her into France. The story will twist and turn until finally the reader arrives at the truth.
Code Name Verity was amazing! Emily Wein does a great job of writing a compelling plot–she gives absolutely nothing away, although, when I think about it, there was quite a lot she hinted at. I also thought that the setting and situation was well-played out. The story is also touching as well–both Maddie and the woman spy (whose name I won’t give away) were well-rounded characters, who both had their insecurities, but still managed to come across as strong in their own ways. I also loved their relationship–it was well-crafted and integrated into the story.
Definitely check this book out! You won’t regret it.
