Le Cirque des Rives comes out of nowhere. Patrons may only enter the black and white tents at night. As they explore the circus, they will be amazed by the acts and exhibits, which push the realm of imagination. However, the circus is more than just a circus: it is the stage for a competition between two young magicians, who have been pulled into a quarrel between their two instructors. However, the two young magicians–Cecilia and Marco–fall for each other, and the game takes a remarkably different turn. Be prepared for a marvelous show!
I absolutely loved Erin Morgenstern’s The Night Circus! The book is a mix of The Prestige meets Romeo and Juliet and is as elegantly carried off as these creative works are. The characters, setting, and plot are intricately done and carefully revealed to have the most impact. For instance, I was, at first, taken in by the sheer creativity and beauty of the circus, but, once I understood the finer points of the magicians’ game, the circus took on a more tragic meaning. Morgenstern’s descriptions of the circus are lush and gorgeous; I really felt like I was wandering the paths and experiencing the circus myself. If you have a fondness for stories involving magicians, uncertainty, competition, and love, then you need to read this book!
