Faye is insane: she is constantly overwhelmed by visions of overwhelming waves and the emotions and memories of others. An outcast, her parents send her to Dr. Murdoch at Holbrook Academy to cure her of her madness. However, Holbrook Academy is a horrible placed filled with sadistic caretakers and doctors. However, Faye finds a bright spot: she is attracted to Kel, a young man to whom Faye feels a deep condition. However, there is a mystery at Holbrook, and Faye and Kel are smack-dab in the middle of it.
I loved this book! Etienne is a gifted and descriptive writer–I was instantly pulled into the world and Faye’s problems. The author has woven together a highly intricate plot. She did a great job of keeping my interest–I never quite knew what was going on, and Etienne kept enough details hidden that I was constantly trying to find out more. Additionally, I liked her experimentation with the meaning of madness and destiny. Overall, it was a great read, and I recommend that you check it out.
